Tip and Idea #4: Child Closet, Minimize then Organize

Hey there. I received some questions about closet organization for children using minimalism principles. Here is my RS Tip and Idea.

Have you ever tried to make lists to explain where the kids items were in the house? I travel some for work and that method did not work for me. Ensuring the house is organized and the children’s items easily accessible lends itself to my comfort and theirs while I am gone. My husband finds that it makes things easier for him especially when the morning flows smoothly, the children arrive to school happy and on time, and he breezes into work. I started with eliminating the extra items in the closet. Only keeping what was absolutely necessary. And then, I organized the rest. Their minimal closet eliminates the need to search for clothing items in the morning, creates the ability for me to complete laundry with ease, and allows my children their independence.

To get to this point, I minimized first utilizing the “How much clothing do kids need” list from the DeclutterSchool. See link here. https://declutteringschool.com/how-much-clothing/ I then organized using my minimalist, parenting, and career values.

So here it is. 1 closet. 2 children. Enjoy.
